Looking for a quality firearm to make an investment in? This gun will only appreciate in value- read below to find out why.
For sale is an Arsenal Bulgarian Milled AK-47 (7.62x39). It is for sale in the Hudson Valley NY area. This rifle was purchased from retired law enforcement officer who had a sideline business as an FFL. I am selling it as a private sale within NY - no FFL needed. Aresenal is the brand name, and Bulgaria is where the milled-receiver AK47's are made. This is a real (semi-auto) AK-47, not a junky Chinese copy.
Features:
-Chrome lined bore (easier to clean, won't rust, and lasts for thousands more rounds than a non-chromed bore)
-Upgraded optics (mounted on a peep-through rail so you can use the existing iron sights also)
-Made by Blue Ridge in South Carolina (known as a quality builder of AK-47 format rifles.)
-It appears to be a serial number matching gun (I checked the bolt, bolt carrier, and recoil rod-I can send pix if you are interested)
-Low round count. When I opened the dust cover there were still some tiny styrofoam balls from the packaging material and very little wear on the fire control parts
You can see some info in the following post from about five years ago, when $800 was a steal (and when regular AK-47's were $200). Prices on all AK style weapons are going way up now due to fears that the election year will bring new administrations in that will change gun laws or ban this type of gun as an 'Assault Weapon': http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_122/775289_.html
Here's the most recent one that turned up when I was researching this last month. The auction is over 30 days old so I dont think you can see it any more. It sold on Gunbroker (not even in a state with a ban) for $1525 plus shipping, plus FFL fees:
All last month there were no SLR-100's for sale on Gunbroker (it's a pretty rare gun and people hold on to them once they get one). There is one other SLR-100 on Gunbroker right now for $1,659.00 plus tax, plus $35 shipping, plus FFL transfer fees and plus 3% credit card fees (so the total is around $2000): http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=307702180 ]
Here is another SLR-100 at $1500 on GunsAmerica (I don't know why it's purple?): http://www.gunsamerica.com/983035789/Guns/Rifles/AK-47-Rifles/Full-Stock/Arsenal_SLR_100H_AK_47_7_62_x_39_Nice.htm
I have seen these Arsenal milled AK's go for a lot of money ($2000-$3000), particularly in states with existing "Assault weapons ban" restrictions. The milled receivers are more durable and so will last longer. Since we may be prohibited from buying AK47's soon, and the Milled receivers last forever, a milled AK is a good investment. If the new administration allows 'grandfathering', you can keep and use this gun forever as long as you buy it before the new laws go into effect. Since this model is NY-compliant, it is more likely to be grandfathered in, even if there are more restrictive gun laws in the future. So if you are looking for an AK, this is a prime choice. I wouldn't be selling it but I need cash and I have a thumbhole stock milled AK in the safe.
This gun comes with one 10 round magazine (as shown in pictures) just to avoid any potential legal issues for you since we live in NY. However, you can use pre-ban high-capacity magazines and I have tested it with a pre-ban 20 round mag and it fits fine, so it definitely accepts hicap mags. The magazines have no wobble in this gun, which I understand can otherwise be a problem with stamped receiver AKs. The only thing about this gun that isn't all that hot is the wood furniture, because these Arsenal guns use surplus, real military wood stocks. However, a beautiful replacement wood stock set can be bought online:
Timbersmith - http://timbersmithusa.com/products/ak/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=2
Or Ironwood - http://www.ironwooddesigns.com/IWDNEW3B12_2.html
I was going to get this set and slap it on... this gun would look smokin' hot with this virgin blonde wood. It would probably boost the resale value by $200 or more: http://www.floridagunworks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=FG&Product_Code=1153&Category_Code=AKA+AK+STOCKS

These are cheaper but not much better than the surplus wood that's already on there: http://www.robertrtg.com/ak47millepolishstockset.html
Anyway, like I pointed out in the summary above; it has a nice chrome lined bore (prevents rusting and lasts for thousands more rounds), strong rifling, and of course the milled receiver. The gun looks like it was not fired that much, I just popped open the dust cover and styrofoam from the original packing container inside the receiver. The hammer doesn't look like it saw much use. It has a dual hook trigger. I would keep it but I need the money to help pay for a new (to me) vehicle. In NY, especially with the new administration coming in this election year, I could probably shop this around hard, bring it to the gun shows, etc- and get the $2000, but just because the wood may not be "100%", and I just don't have the time do anything but quickly list it online, I'm pricing this at $1500 firm for a quick sale.
Cash only - (no checks, cards, money orders, etc). I can meet you just about anywhere north of Newburgh and south of Albany.
If you don't know what a milled receiver is, this is a very good article comparing a real, milled receiver AK-47 to a run of the mill stamped WASR-10 (or any other generic AK-47 pattern rifle), it has a lot of detailed pictures: http://www.ak-47.us/Article_Detail.php?g=content1185132532
